ARL Programmes

Animation Research Ltd has contributed content for many Fox, BBC and NHNZ documentaries such as Human Potential, Wild Asia, Inventions That Changed The World, Animal Face Off and (in full HD) following the path of destruction of tsunamis, volcanoes, earthquakes and tornadoes in Mega Disasters. In 1996 ARL pioneered motion-capture on NZ television with Squirt - a TVNZ children’s television show hosted by 3D penguin 'Spike', which ran for over 10 years.

12-part series Mokotoa involved live actors composited together with ARL generated landscapes and characters. In 2007 ARL provided the motion capture for 3D virtual trainer Jenna on Studio 2. ARL also produced the 3D/2D visual effects on the award-winning 13-part series Kaitangata Twitch, and created the volcanic eruption and resulting pyroclastic flow that envelopes Auckland city in Eruption, Gibson Group’s 2010 telefeature.
